“I’m always on time when it comes to work and business, Mr. Peler, you know that too,” said Noah calmly. “If it’s something that’s less important. I usually just ignore it and refuse it. So, even if I’m thirty minutes late, consider yourself lucky because I can still meet you on my busy schedule.”
D*mn! He must have annoyed me on purpose. What a lawyer, he reversed my sarcasm with his calm and smooth words.
“So, what do you want to talk about?” asked Noah. He looked at his hands in front of his chest. I hope it will be fast because I have to answer a call from my father. He wants to discuss a project that I have to handle immediately.”
“Your father? Is he, Mr. Kent Jeremiah?” I asked carefully. “He’s just your adoptive father, right?”
Noah clicked his tongue. “Don’t let him hear you say that because he might get angry. He doesn’t like it when people say I’m just his adopted son. That’s why he insisted on putting Jeremiah’s name after mine even though I rarely use it.”
“So, by bloodline, you are Leora’s uncle,” I said in a slightly mocking tone.
“I think so, even though I’m not that much different in age from her. Besides, she and I are not related in the slightest. Adoption doesn’t make you blood related, so if one day I want to marry her, that’s fine.”
I felt my blood boil while hearing his words. What does he mean he wants to marry Leora? Is he crazy?
“You want to marry Leora? You can’t!” I said angrily.
Noah’s eyebrows rose. “Huh? Why can’t he? He’s single now and I’m single too. What’s the harm?”
I can’t deny what he said, but I still don’t want that to happen. I want Leora back with me
“Did you deliberately join my legal team, to monitor me?” I asked in a sharp tone. That means, before I divorced Leora, you already knew her true identity?”
Noah nodded lightly and his smile was truly disturbing.
“Yes. I deliberately placed myself in your team of lawyers to supervise and look after Leora. My father didn’t want to shock Leora with the fact of her identity. He also wanted to know what life Leora was living in. He wouldn’t allow me to do anything if Leora lived her life happily.”

“I need your help,” I said, my voice remaining even.
“What help? If it’s legal, you have to make an appointment with my secretary.”

Noah looked at me as if I had horns out of my head. After recovering from the shock of his audacity to say such an impossible thing, I leaned towards him.
