I saw Grandpa Kent and Jayden talking seriously, while I was being escorted by Noah to look at the mansion.
“Do you live here too?” 1 asked Neal.
Noah shook his head with a smile. “I lived here until two years ago, when I joined Peter’s legal team. The distance from this mansion to my office is quite far and sometimes I have too much work to do so I’m too lazy to commute. I bought an apartment in downtown and only about once every two or three weeks I come back here to visit Grandpa Kent.”
“Why didn’t you do anything when you knew that Peter was doing a lot of shady things in the company or when he starter] having an affair?” I asked curiously. “Shouldn’t you be protecting me?”
“Yes, I didn’t take any action, because Grandpa Kent forbade me even though I had reported all of Peter’s actions. Grandpa wanted to know where he would go and wanted to test the limit of your power. You are the heiress to Jeremiah’s business empire, and together with Jayden, you have a big and heavy responsibility. I’m stunned. I think Noah’s explanation is quite reasonable. However, if I happened to be raised in a luxurious and pleasant situation as the heiress of Jeremiah, I would probably grow up to be a flabby and weak spoiled woman.
Besides, I don’t think Grandpa Kent would want Peter to take advantage of me, if he knew my real identity. Now that he’s divorced and he’s shown his true annoying nature, I think I have a chance to repay all the heartache and suffering he caused me, including what his mother and his sisters did, even to that shameless Lizzy.
