My obnoxious roommate
Chapter 1

My roommate, Brittany, had some freaky bug
crawling on her face, and I freaked out,
convinced it was gonna leave her scarred for
life. I practically dragged her to the Urgent
Care.
Turns out, her face was fine, but she missed
her date with Chad, the campus hottie.
That night, Chad pulled a total grand gesture
and confessed his feelings for me on Instagram.
Brittany went ballistic.
“You conniving little bitch! You did this on
purpose to steal him!”
She blamed everything on me and shoved me
down the stairs. I died.
<
Then, I woke up. Back in the dorm, watching
her swat at that bug on her cheek.
I smirked. “Eh, it’s probably nothing. Just put
some ice on it.”
After all, a rotten person deserves a rotten face.

“Ugh, seriously? I just finished my makeup!
Where the hell did this bug come from?”
Hearing that line again gave me major déjà vu.
I peeked through my curtains and saw Brittany
trying to shoo away this little beetle crawling
across her face.
“Get off, already!”
Brittany was getting impatient, ready to slap it
dead.
<
Thankfully, Kayla from across the room had just
come back with takeout and was Face Timing
her boyfriend. Seeing the bug, she instantly
shrieked, stopping Brittany.
“Don’t kill it!”
“I think that’s a rove beetle. They don’t bite, but
if you squish it, the fluid will give you a nasty
chemical burn!”
Kayla, being a Florida native, had seen these
things before. She scurried as far away as
possible.
Brittany looked momentarily startled but then sneered, catching sight of Kayla’s boyfriend on
the phone.
“Oh, please. It’s just a giant ant,” she scoffed.
Without hesitating, Brittany smacked the bug
dead on her cheek

dead on her cheek.
She grabbed a tissue and wiped her face
carelessly, muttering about Kayla.

“You’re just being dramatic. Not like me, I don’t
care what bugs are crawling on my face.”
Kayla went red–faced, but, out of the goodness
of her heart, reminded Brittany.
“Seriously, you should get that checked out. If
you don’t trust me, ask Sarah.”
Brittany glared at me.
I smiled thinly. “It’s probably nothing. Just ice it.
Going on that date with Chad is probably more
important.”
Chad “The Stallion” Kensington was basically
the king of campus. Brittany had been ditching
classes for a whole month, staking out his usual

hangouts and “coincidentally” bumping into
him, all to snag a date.

And after a month of pure simping, tonight was
the night. Chad had finally agreed to take her
out.
Hearing what she wanted, Brittany perked up.
“Some people need to learn to stay in their
lane. Maybe look in the mirror and see who they
are.”
Kayla huffed and stormed out of the dorm.
Brittany, however, was strutting around like she
had just won the lottery.
“Sarah, I never knew you were so perceptive.
guess you can tell I’m about to become the
Stallion’s girlfriend, huh?”
Brittany stuffed makeup into her purse, then

looked me up and down.

“Don’t worry. I already know Chad’s roommate, Kevin, has the hots for you. Once we’re official, you and Kevin can get together. It’s like killing
two birds with one stone!”
I pasted on a fake smile. “Thanks, but no
thanks.”
“Whatever. No wonder nobody wants you!”
She rolled her eyes and stomped out in her six-
inch heels.
