The room erupted in applause, the atmosphere charged with admiration. Even Stewart, usually reserved, approached Elizabeth, offering her a tissue as he praised her. “That was outstanding!”
Known for his exceptional talent, Stewart had auditioned with numerous actresses but had yet to find one who matched his energy. Many had faltered under his unexpected methods. Elizabeth’s performance, however, reignited his enthusiasm.
Both Elizabeth and Ruby sighed in relief, the weight of the audition lifting from their shoulders.
The director walked over to Elizabeth, thanking her for her exceptional work. “We’ll be in touch soon, no matter the outcome. You did great today.”
Meanwhile, Sandra looked up as Elizabeth and Ruby happily entered the elevator. A brief flicker of doubt crossed her face before she leaned toward her manager and asked, “Elva, could you find out how Elizabeth’s audition went?”
“Why bother with her?” Elva Brewer scoffed, eyeing Elizabeth skeptically. “She’s an unknown, with no connections. For a role like this, there’s no way the director would choose her. Especially with you in the running—unless the director’s lost his mind.”
Sandra’s brow furrowed in concern for a moment but was quickly reassured by Elva’s logic. Her thoughts were interrupted when a staff member called for her audition, pushing Elizabeth from her mind—for now.
Stewart’s unexpected participation in Sandra’s audition threw her off balance. She felt the shadows of his presence dim her performance, though she believed it wouldn’t be enough to ruin her chances. After the audition, the director’s tepid response left her confused.
“Thank you for your time, Sandra. You can head home and await our decision.”
Sandra’s confusion deepened at their lukewarm reaction. Elva, noticing her unease and seeing Stewart nearby, flashed a polite smile and asked, “Mr. Lopez, what did you think of Sandra’s performance today?”
“Ms. Nash always delivers,” Stewart said, his words laced with a hint of coldness.
Elva, with her years of industry experience, instantly understood. It was clear that the production team was leaning toward someone else. She gave a tight-lipped smile and nodded, exchanging brief pleasantries before guiding Sandra out of the building, her demeanor turning serious as they left.
