After Sandra’s audition concluded, everyone took a much-needed break.
The director, reviewing his notes, paused for a moment, then broke the silence. “You know, if we hadn’t seen Elizabeth’s audition today, Sandra’s performance might have stood out more. She’s riding a wave of popularity right now, and her social media presence is undeniable.”
Sandra was more than just another contender. She was a top candidate for the female lead, personally selected by the director.
At the peak of her career, she was a highly sought-after star, and her involvement could potentially raise the show’s ratings. The director considered this, leaning toward giving her another opportunity.
Stewart, who had been quietly observing, interjected, “Remember, this drama is based on a beloved online novel with a massive following. The casting should rely less on fame and more on staying true to the source material.”
The screenwriter, nodding in agreement, added, “Exactly. Adapting such a work brings its own set of challenges. Fans of the book are usually far more critical than regular TV viewers. Casting the female lead correctly is vital for the success of this adaptation.”
His thoughts then turned to Elizabeth. “The moment Elizabeth walked in, she embodied the female lead I envisioned. Her portrayal felt more real, far more than Sandra’s. Sandra had a whole week with the script and her audition pieces, yet her performance barely made the cut. It might be a lack of dedication, or perhaps her acting skills just aren’t up to par.”
From the agent’s earlier reactions, it seemed the latter might be the more accurate diagnosis.
Elva had been waiting outside the waiting area for a tense ten minutes when she finally caught the attention of a young intern bustling past.
