After his thorough inspection, he leaned back. Apart from the faint smell of alcohol clinging to her, there was no evidence of anyone else’s presence.

“Ow!” she protested, meeting his gaze with wide, indignant eyes as she broke free from his grip.

Still tipsy, she momentarily forgot her irritation and leaned closer, her fingers brushing softly against his face. “I didn’t feel regret earlier. But now that I’m looking at you, I want more than just holding hands with you!”

Before Elijah could respond, his phone vibrated. The sharp buzz shattered the moment like breaking glass. Unlocking it, he found a surveillance video from the private room she had been in.

With one hand, he captured her wandering fingers, holding them firmly in place. With the other, he began playing the video.

Sandra pouted dramatically, slumping back against the seat. “You’re working again? Why don’t you ever smile? You and that other guy—you both look like statues carved out of stone. Who’d want someone like that?”

As the footage played, Elijah’s anger began to simmer down, though the sternness in his expression didn’t fully fade. The video showed nothing overly concerning—just people drinking and playing games.

But toward the end, he noticed a man who bore a vague resemblance to himself sitting too close to Sandra. The so-called “plaything” had dared to touch her leg.

Elijah paused the video, took a screenshot, and sent it to Oliver.

Before he could even compose a message, Oliver’s immediate response appeared: “Elijah, don’t worry. We’ve taken care of him. That guy won’t use that hand again. We’ve kicked him out of Orkset. He’s gone for good.”

Meanwhile, Sandra, still teetering on the edge of her intoxicated haze, watched him with narrowed eyes. “That phone of yours… You’re glued to it. Is work really that demanding, or are you just too busy with her?”

Her voice cracked, betraying the hurt beneath her attempted sarcasm.

Elijah paused, unbuttoning the collar of his shirt as if the very fabric was stifling him. “Look at yourself,” he said, his tone razor-sharp. “You’re making a fool of yourself. You’re humiliating the James family. If you ever go to places like this again, I’ll make sure you can’t set foot there.”

His words were calculated to wound, but Sandra, far from cowering, shot back with raw frustration.

“Humiliating the James family?” she repeated bitterly. “Who even knows I’m a part of it? Everyone thinks she’s your wife. To the world, I’m just some secret you keep in the shadows. The James family might be filthy rich, but what did I get?
