My face instantly flushed red, and I shoved him away fiercely.
“Shut up!”
Lately, it seemed that during those years I lost my memory, I must have done many outrageous things
with Jonathan.
Otherwise, why would he always act so calm and Indifferent in daily life, yet turn completely unhinged the moment we were in bed?
After all, I was still just the 18–year–old Elise. I didn’t remember those years, had never lived as a wife, and was just a college girl who had never even held a guy’s hand. How was I supposed to deal with something like this?
Fortunately, the current rift between us because of Alicia gave me the perfect excuse to keep him at a distance.
Otherwise, I really would not know what reason to give. If I refused too many times, he might start to get suspicious.
Jonathan pinched my cheek. “What is there to be shy about? You were never this shy before.”
I cleared my throat and said to him, “My stomach still hurts. You should go to work.”
Jonathan frowned and replied firmly, “You are coming with me.”

Just as we were stuck in this deadlock, Hugh’s voice suddenly came from the doorway.
“Mr. Ford, Ms. Alicia is here to see you.”
Jonathan opened the door. Alicia stood there with red, teary eyes, looking at him with uncertainty. Jonathan, sorry to disturb you,” she said.
Jonathan frowned. “What is it?”
Tears spilled from Alicia’s eyes. “My grandmother had an accident…”
At that moment, Jonathan instinctively looked back at me.
A mocking expression flickered in my eyes.

Just a second ago, he was so certain about taking me to the hospital, and now he was hesitating. Of course, I would not argue. This played right into my plan.
I threw back the covers, got up, and walked over to them, generously saying, “You should go with her first. Family emergencies come first.”
Jonathan looked worried. “Come with me. I will take you to the hospital.”
“No need,” I said. “She’s crying. Her grandmother must be in serious condition. Didn’t you say her grandfather saved your grandfather? After all, she is his widow.”
Sure enough, Jonathan was silent for a moment before saying, “I’ll come get you when its over
I shook my head. “No need. Gabrielle and I will come back on our own.
Jonathan pressed his lips tightly together and stared at me for a long moment, yet his eyes revealed emotions I couldn’t quite understand.
After a moment, he finally said to Alicia, “Let’s go.”
As soon as the two of them left, I breathed a huge sigh of relief and rolled around on the bed.
Hugh gave me a look like he wanted to say something.
Seeing he was still standing there, I,sat up, straightened my clothes and cleared my throat. “What is it?”
Hugh sighed and shook his head. “Ms. Sawyer, you can’t be so extreme…”
I felt confused. “Extreme? What do you mean?”
Hugh replied, “You never allowed Mr. Ford to meet Ms. Alicia privately before, no matter the situation. Even if her grandmother was sick or had an emergency, you always caused a scene. Even when Mr. Ford’s grandfather wanted him to visit, you wouldn’t allow it!”
I raised my eyebrows slightly. “But now I am letting him go, am I not? He can stay as long as he wants. He does not even need to come back.”
Though I said that, I still couldn’t help feeling a bit skeptical inside.
I had no memories of the past, but from what others described, I used to be a fiercely jealous woman, who constantly lost control over jealousy, especially when it came to Alicia. No matter what, I would always target her first.
Right now, I really could not imagine what kind of person I used to be.
To me, Jonathan was just like any other man. If he was loyal and sincere, then he was worth protecting.
If he was a two–timing jerk, then I didn’t mind giving him to her.
Hugh gave me another look and sighed. “Take care of yourself, Ms. Sawyer. If you keep pushing Mr. Ford away like this, you may regret it in the future…”
