Since Aria was still cracking jokes, I assumed she wasn’t seriously injured.
I urged them to hurry. “Mr. Ford Senior is already sensing something’s wrong. I’m afraid he’ll find out if we don’t leave soon.”
Frederick nodded and looked at Aria in his arms. Can you still walk?”
She pressed her lips together but said nothing, simply patting his shoulder to signal him to keep moving.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Alicia suddenly appeared, her voice sharp as she looked down on Aria.
She clicked her tongue and added, “I really didn’t expect you to be two–faced. Is this the Guzman family’s style?”
Frederick and I both froze, our expressions turning grave.
guessed Edward must have caught on, but I hadn’t expected it to happen so fast.
Alicia’s disappointed gaze landed on me, and she shook her head. “Grandpa and Jonathan have been so good to you, yet you stab them in the back to help the Guzmans! Elise, I’m really disappointed in you. People like you don’t deserve to be near Jonathan!”
I met her gaze steadily. “What exactly do you want? Just spit it out. Aria is leaving with us today, no exceptions.”
It had come to this, and I was done pretending. Since we’d gotten Aria out, there was no way we’d let them take her back.
Alicia frowned, and the bodyguards beside her stepped forward immediately.
She raised her hand to stop them. “I just don’t get you, Elise. Weren’t you always clinging to Jonathan before, wanting to be by his side every second? You never disobeyed any of his
orders.
“So, what are you doing now? Trying some kind of push–and–pull game?”
My expression grew impatient. “What does he have to do with this? Stop dragging him into everything.”
She snorted and stepped right up to me. “All this running around and making a scene, it’s just to get his attention, isn’t it? Pushing him away on one hand, while doing all these attention – grabbing stunts on the other!
“Elise, we’re all women here. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re really thinking!”

I couldn’t help but laugh, but before I could say anything, Aria snapped angrily, “You think everyone’s like you? Constantly obsessing over those things? Elise doesn’t care about
Jonathan anymore. She’s busy starting a business with my brother.
And do you really think your Jonathan is some prize to be fought over? My brother’s no pushover!”
I felt a pounding in my temples.
Aria was way too reckless and naive. I had planned to work quietly with Frederick without telling anyone, but she exposed my whole plan.
Sure enough, Alicia’s expression darkened as she eyed me seriously. “You’re starting a business? You want to start a business with Frederick? No wonder you haven’t been pestering Jonathan lately.”
She snorted coldly. “Before, you even followed him on business trips and wouldn’t leave his side.”
How did she even know about that? How love–struck and terrified of losing Jonathan I was back then?
I shot her a sarcastic look. “Is that so? You’re not much better. I heard your girlfriends say Jonathan was supposed to take you on this trip. So, why are you still circling Mr. Ford Senior here?”
