Chapter 59
As soon as Eloise saw the people in front of her, especially when she noticed the displeased look on Damien’s face, she instinctively took a few steps back, hiding behind Celeste. A sense
of unease flickered in her eyes.
Celeste didn’t immediately respond to Damien’s question when she noticed Eloise’s reaction. Instead, she softly reassured Eloise, who was hiding behind her. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. They won’t hurt you.”
Lucian watched as Celeste gently patted Eloise’s head, his eyes immediately growing colder. Celeste had never been this kind to any child except him. A wave of jealousy surged within him.
He yelled out, “Mom, why aren’t you responding to Dad? He’s talking to you!”
“What did you just say? I didn’t hear you…”
Hearing Lucian’s voice, Celeste shifted her gaze back to the man. But the hand that had been holding Eloise’s remained firmly in place.
“Dad asked who this girl is. Why are you holding her hand? Why are you being so gentle with her?” Lucian glanced up at Celeste, his round eyes flashing with irritation and his expression
clearly annoyed.
Celeste was about to respond when Damien spoke first, his voice cutting through the tension. So, you’re in such a hurry to divorce me because you’ve already found someone else?”
At his words, Celeste’s brow furrowed, her demeanor turning cold. It seemed that Eloise had led to a misunderstanding.
“Damien, hold on. Let’s hear what Ms. Morin has to say first.” Lucy, standing to the side, instinctively reached out and tugged at the sleeve of Damien’s suit jacket.
Her expression appeared gentle, but the fleeting look of smugness and mockery in her eyes didn’t escape Celeste’s notice.
“Who told you I’ve already found someone else?” Celeste shifted her gaze to Damien, her
voice colder than before.
“If you hadn’t found someone else, where do you think this young girl came from? Did she just pop out of a stone?” Damien’s eyes were full of dissatisfaction, and his tone rose a notch
in anger.
Celeste’s irritation rose as she listened to his words. Without hesitation, she snapped back, Damien, if you know how to talk, then speak properly. If you don’t, just ket, quiet!
“Popping out of a stone–how ridiculous!” The anger was evident in her voice.
“Celeste, why, after just three years in prison, have you become like this?” Damien’s

frustration boiled over when she defended Eloise with such sharp words. He grew increasingly
angry.
When she didn’t respond, he pressed on. “Before, whether with me or with the Wrenford family, you were always gentle and polite. But now, you speak so aggressively, completely different from the person you used to be. What’s changed you so much?”
Celeste’s lips curled into a mocking smile, her cold laugh echoing in the air. So, even now, still didn’t understand why she had changed.
“Maybe my conscience finally woke up,” she replied coolly, her face expressionless.
“Ms. Morin, you don’t have to speak to Damien like that. As an outsider, I feel heartbroken just listening to you…”
Lucy’s words dripped with fake niceties.
Celeste didn’t even spare her a glance as she turned to take Eloise into the classroom.
