Chapter 97
Adrian’s brows suddenly furrowed. He stated, “Nobody’s saying anything about him.”
Celeste froze for a moment, her gaze confused as she looked at him.
Adrian smiled faintly and said calmly, “You adopted Eloise, and I’m her godfather. Doesn’t that make us, in some sense, family?”
This response caught Celeste off guard. She lowered her head and smiled lightly. But just as she was about to respond, there was a knock at the door.
“What have you done to my
son? Open the door now!”
Celeste and Adrian instinctively turned toward the door. It was Zander’s mother knocking.
Celeste was about to open the door, but Annie and Rowan had already returned from behind.
Rowan walked up to the front door and opened it, and Betsy rushed in, scanning the clinic frantically for her son.
“Where’s my son? Where have you hidden him?” Betsy fixed her stern gaze on Celeste.
“Mr. Wrenford, you can go ahead and take care of other matters. I’ll take it from here.”
Celeste didn’t respond to Betsy. Instead, she glanced at Adrian. He gave a slight nod and left
the clinic with long strides.
Celeste looked toward the entrance, noticing that the crowd of onlookers had already dispersed. Even Matilda was gone.
“Your son has already been sent to the hospital.” Celeste’s voice was low, her expression one
of indifference.
“Did you hit my son? I heard him shouting inside just now! What exactly have you done to
him?”
“It wasn’t us who hurt him,” Annie replied coolly, “It was Mr. Wrenford, who left just now. He ordered his subordinates to take action. You’d better stop making a scene, or we’ll have to call the police and have you arrested.
“Your son has already confessed to his crimes. He deliberately set up Dr. Morin and Dr. Moss.”
Annie pointed toward the door. “Please leave quickly, ma’am.”
Betsy, still fuming with anger, demanded, “Where’s my son being treated?”
Rowan responded calmly, “He’s at Evergreen Hospital. If you hurry, you might just catch him and take him home.”

Betsy reluctantly left, still muttering curses under her breath.
“I’m starting to suspect that this elderly woman was also hired.” Annie frowned, her eyes full of suspicion as she turned to Celeste. “She doesn’t look like his real mother.”
“Whether she’s real or not, it doesn’t matter now. We know the truth, and everything else will fall into place.”
“What are you going to do next?” Annie asked as she walked over, her voice filled with curiosity. “How are you planning to get back at them? Do you need my help? With my connections in the industry, digging up some dirt on Lucy would be easy.”
Rowan blinked in surprise. “Are you paparazzi?”
“Paparazzi? Who are you calling paparazzi?” Annie shot him a glare. “I’m a proper journalist!”
“Oh? A journalist?” Rowan gave her an appraising look. “What kind of journalist are you? Are you one of those who secretly take pictures and dig into gossip?”
“You’re the gossip reporter!” Annie shot back.
“Why are we resorting to personal attacks now? I’m just having a proper conversation with
you.”
Celeste listened to their banter, her smile faint. She then walked into the treatment room and
began tidying up the area.
It was clear that Joshua’s actions had been somewhat restrained. Otherwise, the scene
would’ve been even more chaotic.
The third day of the clinic’s opening, and she was already tangled up in this mess. It truly felt
like bad luck.
