Back when Adrian first saw that necklace, he couldn’t help but picture Yvette wearing it. Now, seeing it on Juliana’s neck stirred something in him–an emotion he couldn’t quite name.

Adrian glanced at Juliana again, finally pulling his gaze away from the necklace on her neck.
Lydia gently petted Juliana’s hand. “Jules, wait here a moment, I need to speak with Adrian.”
Juliaansa nodded slightly, and Lydia pave Adrian a look before heading upstairs with him to the study.
This was obviously about Yvette. Lydia clearly wasn’t done lecturing him. They were gone for a full go minutes.
When they finally came back down, both of them looked composed, clearly having shelved the unpleasant stuff for now.
Lydia smiled brightly at Juliana. “Jullana, I’m going to check on the kitchen. You and Adrian should talk.”
Before Juliama could say a word, Lydia had already walked off and taken the housekeeper and maids with her, deliberately leaving the space to the two of them.
Now it was just Adrian and Juliana.
Jubana was still focused on the game on her phone–it hadn’t ended yet.
From the sound of explosions, Adrian could tell it was that wildly popular mobile game everyone was obsessed with
Juliana couldn’t cook, clean, or handle anything remotely practical, yet there she was, gaming like a teenager without a care in the world. She was the textbook example of someone completely unfit to run a household, raise kids, or navigate basic social expectations. He’d never understand how his family thought she was wife material.
He opened his mouth to speak but stopped when he saw how her fingers were frantically tapping away at the screen, completely ignoring his presence.
Her attitude only irritated him more.
Just then, his phone rang. It was Sylvia calling.
He glanced at Juliana, who was still deep in her game. With her totally distracted, he stepped out to take the call, completely forgetting Lydia had just told him not to keep in touch with the Larson family.
He walked outside and answered “Mrs. Larson.”
Syria sounded panicked. “Adrian, what are we going to do? One of the key professors treating Yvette is leaving the country!”
He frowned. “Which professor?”
“She’s a gynecology expert–the most famous one in Hashbourne. Her name’s Amelia Harrison.”
Adrian said, “I’ll arrange for another one. Don’t worry.‘
He didn’t think much of Sylvia’s panic and thought she was overreacting. There were plenty of skilled specialists out there.
But Sylvia was getting desperate. “No, I’ve looked into it. Everyone else is recommending surgery.
“You know how weak Yvette is right now. I heard Dr. Harrison is amazing. She could manage Yvette’s condition without surgery.”
Her heart needed surgery, her liver too–the human body couldn’t tale that many major operations.
When Sylvia first heard about Amelia, she was so relieved. She thought it would be a blessing if Yvette could avoid own one surgery. But last night, suddenly found out Amelia was leaving the country today.
“End you say the doctor’s name is Amelia Harrison?“.
That name rang a bell. Where had he heard it?
“She’s very young, “Sylvia added. “A real prodigy.”
