Grayson immediately rushed over and hugged her. One of them was crying, the other was comforting, and even Adam, watching them, couldn’t help but get angry. “Enough! What do you think this place is? Eleanor, go back for now. I’ll make sure to figure this out.”
I nodded and left.
Grayson tried to follow, but Gianna held him back. I didn’t want to hear any more of their nonsense. When I got home, I packed my bags and bought a ticket.
By the time I returned, Grayson was already back, too, and Gianna was trailing behind him. Her face was pale, and she was holding a watch, new clothes, and all the things Grayson had given her over the past three years.
She looked at me with gritted teeth. “Eleanor, you’re something else. I’m giving all this back to you. Grayson, don’t come looking for me again. Just let me fend for myself!”
I sneered. “You are healthy, have a job, and compensation money. Fend for yourself? No need to make it sound so dramatic! Grayson, you should really think this through!”
The news of my outburst at the factory had already spread through the entire residential area. People at the factory were gossiping and whispering, and some were even saying nasty things.
But I didn’t care. Isla came to see me. When she heard I was going to Echo Ridge, she couldn’t hold back but said, “Eleanor, you’re really going to leave them? If you go, that b*tch will be in house for sure!”
“Isla, keep it a secret. Don’t tell him. I’m getting ~ –”
to me now.”

But I didn’t care. Isla came to see me. When she heard I was going to Echo Ridge, she couldn’t
hold back but said, “Eleanor, you’re really going to leave them? If you go, that b*tch will be in your
house for sure!”
“Isla, keep it a secret. Don’t tell him. I’m getting a divorce from Grayson. All this stuff is useless
to me now, so I’m giving it to you! These clothes, you can alter them for the kid.”
I even sold the watch for 60 bucks. Money was hard to come by these days, but Isla didn’t
hesitate to give me some of her family’s products to take with me.
“Echo Ridge is a lot worse off than here. The climate there is completely different. Cold winds that can cut like knives. You better pack extra clothes. You have to take good care of your face!”
I smiled and nodded. With five days left, I finished packing and sold or gave away everything
I had bought for the house.
When Grayson came back and saw the empty house, he looked confused and asked, “What’s going on here?”
“It’s all junk. I don’t want it anymore. It was getting on my nerves. What’s wrong?”
He silently pressed his lips together and didn’t say anything.
Then, it seemed like Grayson realized something, and he became unusually attentive. He
came home right after work.
Gianna circled around my doorstep a few times, trying to confront Grayson, but he kept dodging her. Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore and barged in.
“Grayson, what’s going on with you? I know I’ve done things wrong. I shouldn’t have gotten involved between you two. I overstepped, but I truly want to make up for it!”
Saying this, Gianna pulled out a wad of money from her pocket. “I even took out the factory’s compensation money from my husband’s work injury, a total of one thousand five hundred dollars. I’m giving it all back to you!”
Seeing her try to play the victim, Grayson squinted his eyes. “You really don’t have to do this. The money isn’t something to rush over.”
I scoffed and walked over, snatching the money from her. “It’s fine if you return it. After I’m gone, you two can do whatever you want.”
Grayson froze when he heard me. “What do you mean after you’re gone?”
It seemed Adam hadn’t said anything, so I felt relieved.
“It doesn’t mean anything. Everyone has to face the consequences of their choices. If you want to be with her, that’s your decision. I won’t stand in your way anymore.”
