News of Nicole violating the customs of her husband’s mourning period quickly blew up all over the internet. Even the previous scandal, where Roxanne had taken the fall for her, had been dug up for comparison.
In a private lounge, a group of young heirs from the elite circle were watching the news and casually commenting on it.
“Gotta say, Roxanne Lesterfield looks like a celebrity on screen.”
“Yeah. I actually considered dating her if only her whole family hadn’t emigrated overseas. She’s beautiful and cheerful. Whoever marries her will never have a dull life.”
“Where is she now, anyway? Did she emigrate abroad too, to where her parents are?”
One of them turned to Brandon and asked, “Hey Brandon, have you heard where the Lesterfields emigrated to?”
Brandon didn’t respond and merely sat in silence while smoking a cigarette. He also had a glass of whisky in front of him. Flicking ash from the end of his cigarette, he picked up the glass and downed it in one gulp.
The group of young heirs started whispering to each other at this sight.
“Even the cleanest guy in our circle is drinking and smoking now. It’s like he’s had his heart
broken.”
“He’s still not hung up on his stepmom, is he? She recently caused a scandal, got sued by the Slewmans‘ board of directors, and owes a huge debt.
“If Brandon still had feelings for Nicole Manther, he could have her scandal buried if he wanted. So, they definitely parted ways long ago.”
No one could figure out what was going on with Brandon.
Then, one of the heirs suddenly exclaimed, “Hey, isn’t that Roxanne Lesterfield on the livestream? She looks like she’s at a gala in Fleurkenstein.”
Brandon’s eyes lit up the moment he heard this. He immediately walked over and grabbed the
person’s phone to see for himself.
Sure enough, Roxanne was on the gala’s livestream. She was wearing a fiery red gown, paired with a diamond necklace and earrings set in the same shade. She looked like a goddess who had stepped straight out of flames.
Brandon was suddenly reminded of the first time he had seen her. It had also been at a gala,

and she had looked bold and radiant in the same red gown. Roxanne had flashed him a shy
smile from across the room.

She had left a deep impression on him that night. It was to the point where Brandon had never rejected her advances when she had ignored their family feud and boldly pursued him.
Maybe his feelings for Roxanne had begun changing from that first glance, but he just never dared to admit it.
All these years, he kept telling himself he loved Nicole. And every time she had sobbed and complained that she had no choice but to marry his father, Brandon had blamed himself.
He had believed he had failed to protect Nicole. He had also felt guilty and blamed himself, so Brandon swore he would never be the man who abandoned her.
Due to this, he kept hurting Roxanne. He would turn away when she kissed him. He would be cold and unresponsive when she hugged him. Even after they had gotten married, Brandon had avoided sharing the same bed as Roxanne and then willfully ignored the sorrowful look on
her face.
Yet, she would always say, “It’s alright, Brandon. I’ll wait for you until the day you’re ready to accept me.”
Brandon’s heart ached terribly at this memory. He hurriedly tapped on the livestream’s IP address, and sure enough; it was from Fleurkenstein.
Coincidentally, Joseph rushed into the private lounge just then. After days of checking embassy records, he had finally retrieved the list of emigration approvals within the past month for Brandon.
“Mr. Slewman! There’s no mistaking it. Your wife is in Raidein city in Fleurkenstein!” Joseph reported.
Brandon flashed a rare smile when he saw Roxanne’s ID photo on the emigration list.
“Book me a flight to Fleurkenstein. I’m going there immediately,” he instructed Joseph.
Out of curiosity, one of the heirs asked, “Why are you rushing to Fleurkenstein upon hearing Roxanne Lesterfield is there, Mr. Slewman? Your families are sworn enemies, so it’s odd that you would be chasing after her.”
“She’s my wife. Why wouldn’t I go after her?” Brandon stated outright, stunning everyone into silence.
Then, he hurriedly left, not wanting to waste any more time.
