Half a year later, Lucas appeared in a wheelchair at the bottom of my company building.
Seeing my shocked expression, he explained with a bitter smile, “I had too much to drink and got into a car accident. My leg was badly
injured.”
He lowered his head, looking dejected.
“Lily, I miss you so much.””
“Oh.”
“After you left, I realized that you were the only one I ever truly loved. With her, I just couldn’t control myself.”
“Is that so?”
“Lily, can we start over? Give me a chance to pursue you again.”
“No.”
He suddenly started coughing violently, his voice unable to hide his exhaustion.
“Lily, my health has deteriorated significantly. I might have to spend the rest of my days in the hospital. Will you come to see me?”
“No.”
He tried to move closer to me, but I felt a wave of nausea and immediately stepped away.
After Lucas was escorted away by security, my ears finally had some peace.
I turned around to see my boyfriend Ethan’s car parked not far away.
He looked at me, smiling to reveal a set of white teeth.
“Let’s go. Dad says he’s prepared his specialty dishes and is waiting for us.”
He’s the son of my father’s comrade–in–arms. We’ve known each other since childhood and reunited at a dinner party.
He was casually leaning on the sofa, with sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, a high nose bridge. I don’t know how long he had been looking at
- me.
When our eyes met inadvertently, my heart skipped a beat.
So we naturally got together, a relationship blessed by our parents‘ generation.
I looked up at him, and he returned a knowing glance.
My mood was like a clear sky after a storm, cloudless. I ran towards him with light steps.
Unsuitable people should be left in the past. It’s time for me to enjoy my own happy life.
