The million dollar bracelet stolen by my fiance sister at our engagement party. Chapter 5

Lucas seemed to want to make it up to me, even officially announcing our relationship on social media, but the photo he posted was a selfie l had sent him when we first started dating

He hadn’t taken a photo of me in a long time, always saying it was too childish when we went out together

And surprisingly, he even brought me a bouquet of flowers after coming home from work

But he forgot that after my mother passed away, to avoid painful reminders, I never kept these things at home. Tessa, on the other hand, loved them

He also brought up that since we were engaged, we could start considering the details of the wedding

I’m sorry for being so careless before and neglecting your feelings. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely give you a grand wedding that will make all girls envious of you.”

I looked at him calmly: I’ve already bought a ticket to leave. Since we haven’t registered our marriage and there’s no property to divide, I’ve entrusted the house to a real estate agent. You’re wealthy now, so you shouldn’t need the house my family bought anymore.”

His eyes widened as he looked around, realizing that all the couple items in the house were gone, and my closet had been emptied

He lost control and grabbed my shoulders, shaking me: Have you gone mad? Why are you suddenly leaving when everything was fine? Have you found another man?”

I frowned and escaped his grip, saying word by word: Please don’t slander me. We have no future together, let’s part on good terms.”

His thought process seemed to be on a different wavelength from mine, coming up with such an absurd reason, unwilling to find fault in himself

His tone softened: Are you still angry about Tessa taking your bracelet at the engagement party? I’ll buy you a new, more expensive bracelet, okay? We’ll hold another engagement party, and this time I’ll announce your identity to everyone.”

I sighed inwardly, feeling like I was talking to a brick wall

I wondered why I had fallen in love with such a selfcentered man in the first place. I used to think all his demands were expressions of his love for me, but now this belated affection only irritated me

The next evening, he suddenly appeared and, using both persuasion and force, took me to a club. Familiar faces appeared the people from the engagement party, and Tessa

He looked nervous, trying to make amends: Lily, I know you’re upset. I’ve specially asked our friends to come today to apologize to you in person.”

I looked around, inwardly sneering

At the last engagement party, from planning to details, I had handled everything singlehandedly. He only made phone calls

Even the bracelet was the style I had chosen, yet it was sized for Tessa

This time, they had put a lot of effort into the venue decoration lifesize statues, photos, cake, flowers…

He held out a gift box, full of affection, but I just coldly watched this poor performance

Tessa suddenly stepped forward, on the verge of tears: Lily, please calm down. Don’t let me affect your relationship. Lucas only takes extra care of me because he pities me.”

She took out a surgery certificate, putting on a pitiful act: My parents don’t care about me. If he doesn’t take care of me, I don’t want to live anymore.”

Lily, if you really feel that my existence is affecting your relationship, I’ll choose to leave and spend the rest of my life somewhere where no one knows me.”

Her selfdestructive behavior deeply evoked Lucas’s sympathy. He immediately went to hug her, his face full of concern: I won’t abandon you!”
